Its grasp on the peak position is weakening

Even though it just missed out on the top spot, the delayed physical release of Metroid Prime Remastered has been one of the most successful outings of the series ever.

Launching a month after the game was already available digitally, and with stock shortages, Metroid Prime Remastered came within a thousand copies of dethroning Hogwarts Legacy from the UK number one spot.

Not only that, but it also became the fourth most quickly bought entry in the entire Metroid series and the second highest physical launch of the year, following Hogwarts but preceding Dead Space and Fire Emblem Engage.

This news looks good for Nintendo’s future plans for the series, however, not all the new releases this week had good luck, with Koei Tecmo’s Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty making a lacklustre start at number eight.

Despite coming within a thousand copies of knocking Hogwarts Legacy off the number one spot, the delayed physical release of Metroid Prime Remastered still managed to become the fourth fastest selling entry in the entire Metroid franchise and the second highest physical launch of the year, behind Hogwarts but ahead of Dead Space and Fire Emblem Engage. Nevertheless, Koei Tecmo's Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty made a disappointing start at number eight.
