MBVV Inspector pedals to world's highest motorable pass in Ladakh - Khardung La.
Mira Bhayandar: The Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar Police Commissionerate has achieved a remarkable feat - Police Inspector Mangesh Andhare pedaled 852 kilometers to Umling La, the world’s highest motorable pass. This patriotic campaign was organized by the Youth Hostel Association of India, and the 53-member team from various parts of the country set off from Leh on July 13th and concluded on July 27th.

The bicycle expedition to Umling La, located at an altitude of 19,024 feet above sea level, was no easy journey. The cyclists encountered freezing temperatures, low oxygen levels, rains, and dusty storms during the mission.

However, Inspector Andhare and his team were determined to complete the mission and they received a great deal of support from the army officials and local people. Inspector Andhare expressed his gratitude for the motivation he received from his senior officers, particularly Commissioner Madukar Pandey.

Notably, the road passing through Umling La in Eastern Ladakh is higher in altitude than the base camp of Mount Everest. It connects Chisumle and Demchok villages which are located close to the Indo-China border in the eastern sector.

The success of the Umling La cycle expedition has been followed by the second edition of the Ladakh Music Festival, which included a fashion show at the world’s highest motorable road. This achievement serves as a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of the mind. It also promotes a spirit of national integration and encourages physical fitness.
