MBMC adds 20 new auto tipper trucks for better garbage collection & sanitation.
Mira Bhayander is taking its sanitation initiatives to the next level with the introduction of 20 new auto tipper trucks, procured from Tata Motors. This new fleet was inaugurated by the newly appointed municipal commissioner and administrator, Sanjay Katkar, at the civic headquarters in Bhayandar on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day.

The tipper trucks, coming with a capacity of eight cubic meters, have separate compartments for wet and dry garbage. The auto hydraulic feature with state-of-the-art On-Board Diagnostics technology helps in efficiently self-diagnosing errors in each of the control units. It also provides technicians with access to the subsystems for performance monitoring and repair analysis.

The civic administration has planned to acquire 117 vehicles, including 33 refuse compactors and tipper trucks of varying capacities. Additionally, 32 mini bell garbage vans will be used for door-to-door waste collection. The first batch of 24 new garbage collection vans, consisting of 18 medium-sized and six large-sized vehicles, was introduced in September 2022. This acquisition of new resources is valued at Rs. 27 crore, of which Rs. 18 crore is funded by the central and state governments under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The fleet is to be managed by a private contractual agency, recently appointed by the MBMC, and will handle the garbage collection process and transport it to waste processing facilities. This will help reduce pollution levels and strengthen MBMC's daily cleaning operations. Mira Bhayander is expecting improved waste management systems in the twin-city with the introduction of these new resources.
