Max Verstappen has recently set tongues wagging by naming the drivers he would want in his dream Formula One team. The four-time world champion is set to enter the 2024 season with the aim of winning a fourth consecutive world title and it seems he may have a new teammate.
Red Bull is currently weighing up their options as Sergio Perez's contract nears its end. Although the Mexican finished second in the championship last season, winning two races, he largely struggled for pace and consistency, especially when compared to Verstappen.
Various names have been linked with the coveted seat on the grid, with Daniel Ricciardo, Lando Norris, Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson considered the frontrunners. In an interview with German publication Auto Motor und Sport, Verstappen was asked to pick his dream driver line-up and he suggested that he would choose Lando Norris.
The 26-year-old and Norris are good friends off the track and the Brit is considered one of the fastest drivers on the grid, alongside Sir Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. Verstappen went on to say that if he couldn't pick himself he would choose Norris' McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri.
Verstappen believes that Piastri is a fast rookie with things to learn, but he is also a smart guy that will eventually win his races. However, it is unlikely that Red Bull will sign a driver that could potentially destabilise the team if the pair came to blows on the track, as Norris is locked in with McLaren until the end of 2025.
It remains to be seen which driver Red Bull will bring in, but one thing is for sure - Max Verstappen will be hoping to make his dream team a reality.
