This week, Meta will be launching its verification service, Meta Verified, in Australia and New Zealand, with gradual releases in other countries to come.

Similar to Twitter Blue's paid-for blue tick, the new feature will enable users to authenticate their Facebook and Instagram accounts with a government ID and receive a blue badge.

The Meta Verified subscription bundle for Instagram and Facebook will be priced starting at $11.99 per month on the web or $14.99 a month on Apple’s iOS system and Android.

It will also offer additional protection against impersonation.

Mark Zuckerberg is following in Elon Musk's footsteps by replicating Twitter's paid verification feature for Facebook and Instagram.

Meta's entrance into the subscription services realm follows Twitter, which began providing blue ticks for $8 a month as part of its premium Twitter Blue service.
