Recently, Emmerdale star Mark Charnock became a victim of an online scammer. An Instagram account had been created that completely copied his profile picture and bio.
Mark took to Instagram to express his disgust at the scammer as they had used a picture of three of his late friends, Richard Thorp, Paula Tilbrook and Meg Johnson, to try and verify their identity. The picture had been posted to his own account as a tribute to his late colleagues after the sad passing of Meg Johnson in 2020. He wrote that it disgusted him and asked his followers to block and report the person.
His followers were quick to respond, expressing their own disgust and reporting the account. One follower wrote that Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter needed to do more to close these accounts down, while another wrote they had reported it and hoped it would get sorted soon.
Fortunately, Mark’s call to action worked and the scammer’s account has since been removed from the platform.
