Mario Kart, GTA 6 and Mass Effect 6 - the gaming world's most popular franchises stirring up excitement!
Mario Kart 64 - the Second Best Kart Game?
Let's take a look at the game which has been the number one game on the consoles it's been on for two generations now - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The reviews have been great and I'm looking forward to checking out the new courses this weekend, having bought the Booster Pass a while back.

It's clear that Mario Kart 8 is the best game in the series, but what about the second best? Some say Mario Kart 64, but it's hard to say if that's just nostalgia speaking. Others have suggested Mario Kart Double Dash!!, but nobody seems to like that one. Then there's Mario Kart Wii, 7 and DS, which could all make a case for being the second best.

In the end, I think I'm just going to go with my heart and say Mario Kart 8 is the best and Mario Kart 64 is my runner-up. And, as my friend Garry pointed out in his letter, what happens when we need a Mario Kart 63 sequel in a couple of hundred years? Will we be playing Mario Kart 64-2?

The comments for the GTA 6 announcement have been hilarious, with people joking about breaking the internet. Little do they know that this game will be bigger than anything, bigger even than the moon landings and the World Cup put together. It's going to cause chaos when it comes out!

It's a shame that Sony are still intent on driving off the cliff that is live service games. Their chances of any of the six games being successful have been halved and I can't imagine anyone wanting a cartoon multiplayer version of Horizon or a multiplayer The Last Of Us. It's such a waste of money and time - not to mention the poor developers who have to make games they're not interested in.

Finally, the news that Mass Effect won't be out till 2029 or later worries me. It's not so much the wait, but the fact that I might be dead by the time they finish a second trilogy. Empires have risen and fallen in the time it's taken for them to make these games. I'm surprised EA haven't tried to keep the name alive in the meantime with some spin-offs.

Microsoft have spent billions of dollars on developers in the past few years, and their position hasn't improved. They've got Starfield, Call Of Duty and Forza Motorsport, but none of them seem to have made much of a splash. If the next big game is Fable, then I'm not sure it'll do much better either.

All in all, it's been an interesting few weeks in the gaming world. Let's see how things develop in the coming months!
Mario Kart 64 – the Second Best Kart Game?
It was great to see the nice review for the last of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC, GC. The game has been around for nine years now and is definitely a classic. It’s like GTA 6 in that it has been the number one game on the console for two generations now. The Booster Pass was a great purchase and it shows great value for money.

I agree that Mario Kart 8 is the best game in the series, but which is the second best? I think Mario Kart 64 is a great contender but that could just be nostalgia speaking. Double Dash!! has been suggested but it didn’t seem that popular? Mario Kart Wii and 7 are the next most recent, but I also have a soft spot for Mario Kart DS. It’s difficult to say, but I’m going with 8 as the best and 64 as the runner-up.

The comments for the GTA 6 announcement were so funny, with people complaining it was a non-story and who cares, only to find out that 145 million people saw the tweet and 1.4 million liked it. This game is going to be huge, and even bigger than GTA 5, which was already the biggest entertainment launch of all time. It’s going to cause chaos when it releases.

Sony’s live service games are really worrying me. Cutting their plans in half means they have a much smaller chance of anything being a hit. I don’t want to play cartoon multiplayer versions of Horizon or a multiplayer The Last Of Us. I wish Sony wasn’t wasting time and money on games the fans don’t want, and I’m sure Microsoft will take advantage.

Mass Effect’s delay to 2029 or later is really concerning. It’s going to take six or more years to make Mass Effect 4, and by the time Mass Effect 6 comes out I might be dead! 12 years is a long time for a franchise to be in hibernation. It’s surprising EA hasn’t tried to keep the name alive with a spin-off.

Microsoft’s spending spree on developers doesn’t seem to have paid off. Starfield, Call Of Duty and Forza Motorsport haven’t made much of a splash. It seems like Fable won’t do much better either. They must have spent $80 billion or more and their position hasn’t improved. That doesn’t seem like great value for money.

Completed Alan Wake 2 and had mixed feelings about it. The survival horror combat and Mind Place were my biggest dislikes. Reloading and healing was slow and the dodge action was awkward. Playing on hard made the experience with combat pretty infuriating. The Mind Place was okay but I didn’t like how often you had to go in and out of it. Alan’s abilities and the Remedyverse were great though. I felt the pay off when you get answers to the mystery wasn’t as good as the build-up but I enjoyed the sections I played.
