Man posing as an Army officer arrested for scamming job seekers in Pune.
Pune recently witnessed the apprehension of Ranjit Kumar Rajendra Singh, a man impersonating an officer in the army's intelligence agency. He was taken into custody by the army's intelligence agency and subsequently handed over to the Wanwadi police.

The investigation began after Dhondiba Raghu Mote, a 21-year-old resident of Motewadi in Sangli district, filed a complaint with the Wanwadi police station. Mote and his friends, Sachin Kolekar, Malappa Pandey, and Sagar Mote, were preparing for army recruitment when they first encountered the imposter at the Race Course area on Pune-Solapur road.

Accused Singh had managed to swindle a staggering sum of ₹12.80 lakh from the four aspiring recruits by providing them with counterfeit appointment letters and identity cards under the pretext of processing fees for their recruitment.

Police Sub-Inspector Ajay Shitole is overseeing the investigation and has stated that Singh had targeted aspiring youths from Dharashiv, Satara, Kolhapur, Tuljapur, and Latur with the promise of lucrative army recruitment opportunities. He is suspected to have defrauded numerous other individuals, as 16 youths from various regions across the state have already lodged complaints.

The incident serves as a grave reminder to be vigilant when it comes to matters of recruitment, and to always verify the credentials of those offering such services.
