Panic spread throughout Janaki Nagar on Thursday after four bodies were found in a house. Police suspect that the man killed his live-in partner, Mamta, and her two children before committing suicide. Sources believe that he was driven to this desperate act because of his spiraling debt.
According to Jiwajiganj police, the bodies were identified as Manoj Rathore, Mamta, her son Lucky, and daughter Kanak. Manoj was found hanging from the ceiling in a room of the rented house. The other three bodies were found lying lifeless on the floor.
Reports indicate that Mamta's two children were from her first husband. The two had been in a live-in relationship for the past five years. Jitendra Solanki, who was the first to enter the room and find the bodies, said that a few visitors had come to meet Manoj. After their repeated knocking at the door went unanswered, they pushed it open and were horrified by the scene inside. The landlord, Asaram, then informed the police.
Sumitra Shinde, Mamta's aunt, revealed that Manoj had taken a large loan which he had been unable to repay. The lenders had been harassing him for their money. Shinde said that Mamta had gotten married in Nagda fifteen years ago. After a dispute with her husband, she had left him and started living separately with her two children. She eventually moved to Ujjain and began a live-in relationship with Manoj five years ago.
SP Sachin Sharma said that the family had been selling flowers near a temple. They had only been in their current house for three months. When the police arrived, foam was coming out of the mouths of Mamta and her children. The team of forensic science laboratory was called in for further investigation.
This tragic news has shaken the citizens of Bhopal. The police are doing their best to get to the truth of the matter and ensure justice is served.
