Man jumps into ocean from lifeboat, vanishes from cruise ship.
Early on Monday morning, Tyler Barnett, a 28-year-old resident of Houma, Louisiana, was reported missing from the Carnival Glory luxury cruise liner. Barnett had just departed from New Orleans port hours prior and was bound for Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The US Coast Guard was promptly notified and launched a frantic search of nearly 200 miles of open ocean, following the ship's voyage path. After reviewing surveillance video, Carnival Cruise Lines determined that Barnett had jumped from the fourth deck of the ship at approximately 1.40am.

Unfortunately, the search efforts were interrupted by severe weather conditions in the Gulf of Mexico on Monday evening. However, when the weather cleared up on Tuesday, the Coast Guard resumed their mission. Meanwhile, the Carnival Glory continued on its voyage and is expected to arrive in Montego Bay by Wednesday.

Barnett's disappearance is not the first case of a passenger falling overboard from a cruise this year. In June, another passenger fell from a cruise to the Bahamas after leaning too far over his stateroom balcony. Last year, on Thanksgiving Day, a man was rescued after falling overboard in the Gulf of Mexico. He was found unresponsive but alive and was airlifted to a hospital in Louisiana. Miraculously, he survived the ordeal.
