Officers were called to Highbury Vale tram stop at around 11am today after a man in his 30s was fatally stabbed aboard a tram. Nottinghamshire Police said officers arrived shortly after 11.10am on Monday, where the victim died at the scene.
Chief Constable Kate Meynell of Nottinghamshire Police said: “What happened at Highbury Vale this morning is tragic and has resulted in the death of a man in his 30s. We know there were other passengers on board at the time and understand how frightening this must have been for anyone who saw what happened.”
Police are now investigating the incident and have arrested one man in connection with the stabbing. He remains in police custody. Chief Constable Meynell assured the public that this was an isolated incident and that the police are not looking for anyone else in connection with what happened this morning.
