Mahogany Hallmark's first Mahogany Honors Brunch honors the bond of black sisterhood.
On April 28th, Mahogany Hallmark hosted their very first Mahogany Honors brunch in Atlanta. It was a beautiful event, filled with women from all over the country who came to receive their well-deserved flowers.

Mahogany Hallmark has become well-known for their diverse collection of greeting cards that feature messages of love, acceptance, condolences, and friendship in the language of minority communities. Despite being a relatively new branch compared to its parent company's long-standing legacy of 114 years, Mahogany has made a significant impact in the four decades since its establishment.

The company has made it their mission to reach out and connect with Black women in various ways. From their lifestyle website and e-commerce hub to their movie franchises, they offer a space for honoring, celebrating, and supporting emotional connections among Black families, friends, and loved ones. It's truly become the norm for Mahogany.

The Mahogany Honors brunch was a natural extension of this mission. The ballroom at the Intercontinental Buckhead was the perfect setting for the event. As the women enjoyed a delicious brunch, they came together in a way only they could. There was dancing, head nodding, and bouncing of shoulders to the sounds of Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige that filled the room.

After a heartfelt prayer, the guests were treated to a one-on-one conversation with singer and actress Fantasia Barrino, known for her role in "The Color Purple". She spoke candidly about her financial struggles, sharing the vulnerable fact that she had lost everything financially not just once, but three times. She even recounted a time when her credit card was declined while trying to order pizza for her family. Through these difficult experiences, Fantasia learned valuable lessons in business and realized that her gift had been taken advantage of by others for far too long. This inspired her to become a businesswoman and take charge of her own enterprise.

Throughout the brunch, Mahogany Hallmark honored Black women, creatives, and entrepreneurs for their incredible strength and talent. Among the honorees were Eva Marcelle, Tiffany "Budgetnista" Aliche, and Egypt Sharrod, just to name a few. BLACK ENTERPRISE had the opportunity to speak with Aliche, who shared her thoughts on being acknowledged by her peers.

"It's one thing to be celebrated, but it's another to be honored by your own people. There is no greater honor than being recognized by those who look like you, because they truly see you. They know what you've been through, and despite all the negativity in the world, they choose to elevate you. It's truly an amazing feeling," said Aliche.

Mahogany Hallmark honored these amazing women using their own strength - words. The team at Mahogany crafted beautiful and moving poetry to encapsulate the gifts, talents, and beauty of each honoree. It was truly a sight to behold.

The Mahogany Honors brunch was a wonderful celebration of Black women and their accomplishments. It was a reminder of the power and impact that can come from honoring and uplifting one another.
