(Image Source: https://metro.co.uk) Mackenzie is walking a tightrope in Emmerdale as he attempts to conceal from his betrothed, Charity, his paternity of the baby Chloe is expecting. At first, Mackenzie reacted to the news of the pregnancy by stating he wanted nothing to do with her or the baby, however, over time he has realized that he desires to be a father. If it had solely been Mackenzie and Chloe aware of this knowledge, keeping it a secret may have been achievable as Chloe has repeatedly expressed she does not want anything from him. Nevertheless, Nate soon suspected what was happening and Sarah inadvertently overheard their conversation, making two people privy to the facts. Since Chloe arrived back in the village from Scotland and decided to stay, Moira has begun to identify that Mackenzie behaves differently around Chloe. She currently believes it is due to his wish to have a child, but it will not be long before she realizes his wish is about to be granted. In Monday's episode Mackenzie encountered Chloe at the Hide and she unveiled the news that the baby is a boy. This made the situation more realistic for Mackenzie and when Chloe requested if he wanted to feel the baby kick, he seemed overwhelmed. He tried to play down the encounter when he informed Nate of what had taken place, but Nate cautioned him that it was not what happened that was important, but what he was feeling. Knowing how Charity will likely react when she finds out that her fiancé was unfaithful straight after she lost her own baby and has kept this enormous secret about the fatherhood of Chloe's baby for months, including while Chloe was living with them, Nate understood Mackenzie was in trouble.
