On Tuesday, Kukshi Police made a major breakthrough in their efforts to curb illegal arms trading. 24 fire arms and 10 live cartridges were seized in a raid. The total market value of the seized material was estimated to be around Rs. 4 lakh. Gopal Bheel, a resident of Kukshi, was arrested in connection to the incident.
Kukshi SDOP Sunil Gupta revealed that in the last 15 days, this was the second major raid. In total, 54 firearms and 40 live cartridges were seized. The investigation began when Gupta's team received a tip-off that a suspect was spotted with a bag at Bagh Road Square. Upon reaching the spot, they immediately detained the man and, upon a search, discovered two pistols and 22 country-made revolvers with 10 cartridges.
Gopal Bheel was identified as the suspect and upon interrogation, he revealed that he had taken the weapons from a Sikligar. He was then booked under the relevant sections of the Arms Act.
The arrest of Gopal Bheel was a result of the earlier detention of Damoh's arms dealer Sudeep Ahirwar. During interrogation, Ahirwar informed the police about Bheel's involvement in illegal weapons business. SP Manoj Kumar Singh then directed the Kukshi police team to take action. The police team quickly activated their informers network and, late on Monday evening, received the tip-off that led to the arrest.
