Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress National President, is in Rajasthan to discuss the election battle with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. Addressing public meetings in Vair in Bharatpur and Tijara in Alwar on Saturday, Kharge expressed his confidence in the Congress party's victory in Rajasthan.
Kharge accused the BJP of being anti-Dalit as the party had fielded Girraj Singh Malinga, a former Congress MLA who had allegedly beaten a Dalit government engineer. He said, “PM Narendra Modi, who made false promises for the poor and Dalits, gave the ticket to Girraj Singh Malinga. On one hand, you talk about the poor and Dalits and on the other hand you invite those who kill and beat Dalits.” Kharge further added that “It is not acceptable to give the ticket to such a person. Let us lose the seat. We cannot see a man beating a Dalit so we denied the ticket to Malinga.”
Kharge also drew attention to the incident of urinating on a Dalit MP and said that “these people together are encouraging those who kill and beat. Go to MP where a BJP leader had urinated in the mouth of a tribal child. Shivraj Chauhan washes his feet there and says forgive me." He accused the BJP of abusing the Congress and speaking against the Congress people.
Kharge concluded by saying, "We do not want to remove anyone, but those in power should work for the poor. These people worked to kill and crush our people. We are confident that Congress will break the 25-year record on 25th November and form the government in Rajasthan.” All eyes in the state are now on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and his strategies for the upcoming elections.
