Kelsey Parker has opened up about her journey to understanding and embracing spirituality following the death of her husband Tom Parker in 2022. The Wanted singer, who died aged 33, was diagnosed with a grade four brain tumour in 2020 and battled his illness for almost two years.
On Friday's episode of Loose Women, Kelsey talked about her transition from being a cynical person to someone who watches out for signs from Tom. She recalled a recent camping trip, saying: “At the campsite there's feathers everywhere, and the kids are saying ‘Look, daddy's with us.’”
Kelsey and Tom were married in 2018 and had two children together. She has previously spoken about white feathers appearing during key moments in her life, which she believes are messages from beyond from Tom. “When Tom died at the hospice, I went downstairs after he’d just passed away. I was on the phone to my friend and a feather dropped from the sky,” she said. “There was nothing around me, no trees, nothing — that was Tom saying, ‘I’m okay, Kelsey, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.’”
Kelsey added that the discussion stemmed from a chat about Jennifer Aniston, who recently admitted that she has felt closer to her dad Jon since he died in 2022. She said: “I’ve been through the most traumatic time — the last three years have been absolutely horrendous, losing Tom. It’s about finding comfort.”
When asked about whether she had always been open to the idea of signs and spirits, Kelsey admitted to host Kaye Adams: “No, I literally was not spiritual at all. I just always thought, if you die then you die and that’s it — but I went on this journey [after losing Tom].” She then explained that Tom was a believer. “Tom had always been really into it,” she revealed. “He’d been trying to convince me — now I’m convinced,” she said with a smile.
Kelsey has previously shared stories about white feathers appearing when she least expected it. On a Loose Women appearance in November 2022, she revealed that a feather had appeared when she was out with friends in London’s Soho district.
Through these experiences, Kelsey has found comfort in embracing spirituality and believing that Tom is still with her. She hopes that her story can bring comfort to others who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
