Kathy and Cindy Beale, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, have never seen eye to eye on EastEnders. Their relationship has always been tumultuous and full of tension, and recent scenes saw them engage in yet another heated argument – with one clear winner emerging victorious.
It all started when Elaine Peacock dropped a bombshell on Ian Beale, telling him that Cindy had kissed her ex-husband George Knight. Elaine had overheard Cindy and George discussing their kiss and promptly kicked George out of the house. But that wasn't the end of it.
Elaine, having discovered that Cindy and George were working together behind the bar at the Queen Vic, decided to take matters into her own hands and get her revenge. She gave Kathy a knowing look before executing her plan.
Meanwhile, Cindy was struggling with Ian's cold behavior towards her. She soon found out that he knew about the kiss and tried to talk to him about it. To her surprise, Ian brushed it off and claimed it wasn't a big deal and they could move on. However, Kathy had a very different opinion on the matter.
Kathy has always been a staunch supporter of Ian, especially through all the heartbreak he's faced over the years – much of which was caused by Cindy herself. Not to mention the time she had him shot! So, when Kathy saw Cindy nursing her wounds and her pride, she couldn't hold her tongue any longer. She gave Cindy a stern talking-to in the middle of the market, leaving her humiliated.
Ironically, Kathy called Cindy a "slapper" and even slapped her across the face, demanding that she do the right thing and end things with Ian for good. Though Cindy tried to fight back, Gina Knight, George's wife, held her back, leaving Kathy victorious. Cindy was left reeling and humiliated, while Elaine watched on from the window of the Queen Vic, thoroughly amused by the whole spectacle.
Later on, when Kathy went to the pub, she was greeted with a hero's welcome from Elaine, who applauded her for standing up to Cindy. Though Kathy seemed a bit embarrassed by her outburst, Elaine rewarded her with a free drink. With both women sharing a mutual hatred for Cindy, could they join forces and try to get rid of her once and for all?
