Joe reflects on leaving Coronation Street due to fears surrounding his character Tim's murder.
Tim Metcalfe is in serious danger this week in Coronation Street as he goes up against Stephen Reid. After becoming suspicious of the businessman, Tim grows curious when Brian mentions his interest in the canal dredging project.

As Super Soap Week begins, Tim decides to investigate the canal and grabs an old boathook to poke around. Much to his shock, a corpse’s hand floats to the surface. Tim manages to call the police, but Stephen jumps in the back of the cab and tries to strangle him with a tie. In the process, the taxi driver escapes, but trips on his shoelaces and is knocked unconscious by Stephen with a brick.

Back in Weatherfield, Sally is unaware of Tim's plight and doesn't know that he is trapped in the boot of his car, doused in petrol. With Tim's fate up in the air, Joe Duttine, the actor playing Tim, had some exciting filming ahead.

DS Swain tries to catch Stephen, and Joe told us what we can expect in the upcoming dramatic scenes. He said: "I think they can expect a lot of suspense, some humour, a lot of character-based stuff, and a real feeling of an ensemble show with lots of twists and turns and [unexpected moments]. Characters in situations that they don’t always find themselves in."

When asked about Tim's fate, Joe said: "I think he’s [Tim] in a lot of danger! He’s been hit over the head and who knows what’s going to happen to him? He’s definitely a fish out of water!"

Joe expressed how pleased he is to be part of Stephen's downfall and what it has been like filming the dramatic scenes. He said: "It’s good to stretch the acting muscles a little bit and have the opportunity to get out and do stuff that’s a challenge and flex your creative muscles a bit. I enjoyed it a lot. I’ve been wanting to catch a villain for a long time! Ever since Phelan, I wanted to get Phelan. I didn’t want Phelan to get away with it because of the stuff that he was doing to Faye. So, finally, Tim got the chance to play his part in bringing the villain down."

Joe also spoke about Todd Boyce's departure and said: "He’s a really lovely bloke and we’ll be sad to see him go. I’m just glad that I got to be part of his story. A good ending for him, and I think he’s had a ball, so win win!"

With the exciting scenes taking place during Super Soap Week, we can only hope that Tim will survive and that Joe continues to be part of Coronation Street. We'll have to wait and see but one thing is for sure, the suspense will only continue to build.
