JNV Hadagarh accused of harassment and bullying.
According to sources, the issue of ragging in educational institutions in our state has not yet been resolved. In fact, it seems to be getting worse. A recent incident at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Hadagarh, located in Keonjhar district, has caused quite a stir. It has been reported that a Class IX student has been subjected to daily beatings for several years by his seniors in the school. This information came to light on Thursday when the student's father lodged a complaint at the Soso police station. The police have taken action and started an investigation into the matter.

As per the complaint filed by the victim's father, Mandardhar Tout, a resident of Balia village, his son has been a target of physical abuse by his seniors since he joined the school in Class VI. Despite repeated complaints to the school authorities, no action was taken against the perpetrators. The situation escalated on March 29 when the boy was assaulted once again, resulting in swelling on his face and cheek. The school authorities, instead of taking action, tried to cover up the incident. However, things took a turn when Mandardhar and his daughter, Manoja, visited the school on September 4, after learning about the visit of the additional commissioner from Bhopal. It was then that Mandardhar caught his son being beaten up by his seniors in the classroom. He immediately took action and lodged a written complaint at the Soso police station. The police have registered a case against three students and have started their investigation.

When questioned, the school principal, P Manikanthan, denied the allegations made against the school. However, the additional commissioner, P Munirameya, has assured a thorough investigation into the matter and appropriate action will be taken. The victim's sister, Manoja, also shared her experience of visiting the school with the police for the inquiry. She claimed that the school principal was rude to her and asked her to leave the premises.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held between the parents' association, the school principal, additional commissioner, and vice-principal of JNV, as well as the principal of JNV in Cuttack. They proposed to the victim's father to transfer his son to a different Navodaya Vidyalaya. However, the father has refused to take this offer, standing firm on seeking justice for his son. It is disheartening to see such incidents of ragging still taking place in our educational institutions, and it is important for authorities to take strict action against those responsible.
