MaC Venture Capital has made history by appointing Jennifer Randle as their first ever Chief Operating Officer - and she's a Black woman. This is a significant step forward in the mission of the firm, which is to invest without bias and set an example for the world.
Marlon Nichols, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of MaC Venture Capital, spoke to AfroTech about the firm's mission. He said, "Part of our ethos is not to be a 'diversity fund' but to set an example. If you truly invest without bias, you will end up with a very diverse portfolio and a high-performing one, because that's what the world looks like."
Randle is transitioning from her current position as Executive Vice President of Finance and Operations at The Chernin Group, a billion-dollar global investment firm that she helped transform from a family office. She is now leading a company that seeks to truly reflect the world as it is today.
When asked about her new role, Randle said, "I wanted to be able to take all the things I have learned over the last 20-plus years and help build a firm and be a part of something so amazing and special."
MaC Venture Capital is committed to diversity and inclusivity. Over half of their members identify as Black, and more than a quarter are women. While there is still progress to be made in the venture capital space, we are seeing an increasing number of investors like Randle taking the lead.
