Jennifer Aniston has called on her fans to support The Matthew Perry Foundation, an organisation set up to help those suffering from addiction in light of her co-star's passing. Matthew Perry, 54, died in his Los Angeles home on October 30th.
The actor had detailed his lifelong battle with substance abuse in his 2022 memoir and was found unresponsive in his hot tub, believed to have drowned. Aniston took to Instagram Stories to encourage her followers to back The Matthew Perry Foundation in recognition of Giving Tuesday.
"For #GivingTuesday please join me and Matty's family in supporting his foundation-which is working to help those suffering with addiction. He would have been grateful for the love," Aniston wrote.
The foundation, which was launched on November 3rd, is a donor-advised fund sponsored and maintained by National Philanthropic Trust. The foundation said in a statement that they were hoping to honour his legacy.
"In the spirit of Matthew Perry's enduring commitment to helping others struggling with the disease of addiction, we embark on a journey to honor his legacy by establishing the Matthew Perry Foundation, guided by his own words and experiences, and driven by his passion for making a difference in as many lives as possible," the statement read.
Aniston's plea to her fans has been met with an outpouring of support, with people from around the world showing their love and appreciation for the actor and his work. His cause of death is yet to be released, pending a toxicology report.
