Indore: On Friday, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority released the results of the first JoSAA Seat Allotment result 2023 for Round 1. JoSAA is managing and regulating the joint seat allotment for admissions to 118 institutes for the academic year 2023-24. This includes 23 Indian Institutes of Technology, 31 National Institutes of Technology, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 38 other technical institutes in India.
The online reporting process for round 1 also began on Friday. Candidates who have been allotted seats in their desired colleges can now upload their documents. The deadline for paying and confirming the admission is July 4th, and the last date to respond to any queries is July 5th.
The most popular stream for engineering was Computer Science and Engineering. IIT Bombay had the opening rank of 1, and the closing rank was 60. IIT Madras opened the rank at 6 for the same stream. IIT Indore had a slightly higher opening rank of 671 and closing rank of 1169 for CSE. The least popular stream among engineering was Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, with an opening rank of 8682 and closing rank of 10862 at IIT Indore.
Kamal Sharma, a JEE mentor, shared the advice that candidates who have received admissions should accept the allocated seat and opt for one of the three options – ‘Freeze’, ‘Slide’ or ‘Float’ for the choice of academic programme for the subsequent round, if any. He also warned that candidates who reject the allocated seats will not be able to participate in the Joint Seat Allocation for the ensuing academic year 2022-23.
The seat acceptance fee for this round is Rs. 15,000 for candidates with the category tag SC, ST, GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD or STPwD and Rs. 35,000 for all other candidates. This fee, excluding the JoSAA processing charges, will be adjusted against the admission fee.
