James Whale has terminal cancer and his treatment isn't helping; he'll be gone in a year.
Broadcaster James Whale has given an update on the status of his cancer treatments, and it's heartbreaking.

The 72-year-old TalkTV star revealed that his treatments are 'not working' and he believes he won't be alive this time next year.

Whale was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2000 and had a kidney removed. In 2020, he revealed it had spread to his spine, brain, and lungs. At this weekend's Television and Radio Industries Club awards, he said he was 'kind of at the end' of his treatment options.

Despite the difficult news, Whale tackled the subject with his trademark sense of humour, saying he would 'look fantastic' when he loses more weight.

He also revealed he had stopped taking steroids which made him look like 'a balloon'. His wife, Nadine Lamont-Brown, whom he wed in 2021, followed up, saying the clinical trial Whale was taking part in had 'stopped working'.

Whale has kept his fans updated throughout his diagnosis and treatment.

Nadine said it had been more difficult for her than for Whale, as he sometimes felt sorry for himself and was suffering from cancer fatigue.

The pair revealed that while Whale had considered assisted death in a Swiss clinic, he would instead be spending his remaining days at home with his family.

Whale's first wife, Medlina, died in 2018, just months after being diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. The pair had been married for 48 years and shared two sons.

Whale's story is a reminder to everyone to cherish the time we have with our loved ones.
