Jaja's African Hair Braiding will move from Broadway to online streaming, allowing it to live on.
If you are not able to catch the show "Jaja's African Hair Braiding" on Broadway, you will be delighted to know that the play will be available on livestream for its final week at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in New York City. Playbill announced the news on October 30th and Jocelyn Bioh, the playwright, expressed her excitement for the play to be seen on a global scale.

"I'm thrilled that the world premiere of my work will now be possible," said Bioh. "I can't wait for audiences far and wide to come to the shop!"

This move towards livestreaming is sure to bring a wider audience to the world of Broadway shows, promote the same diversity as the play already has, and bridge the gap between traditional theater audiences and those who have yet to experience the Broadway magic. Jim Augustine, the co-founder of League of Live Stream Theater, shared his thoughts on the venture:

"Live streaming theater begins to bridge the gap between traditional theater audiences and those who have not typically been part of the Broadway experience. This includes those who have never been to a Broadway show and those who have never even considered it, individuals in correctional facilities, classrooms, underserved communities, and every individual impacted by the challenges of in-person theater."

The modern play tells the story of West African immigrants at a Harlem hair salon as they deal with cultural differences in their daily lives, and emphasizes sisterhood and community. With Taraji P. Henson as a producer, the show made its Broadway and world debut on October 3rd, and it was met with much enthusiasm.

The live stream performances will take place from November 14th to 19th, to support the Black women-led show. So if you are unable to make it to the theater, be sure to catch the show online!
