Mhow: On Tuesday, the teachers and students of Jaison's Academy Higher Secondary School celebrated the harvest festival of Kerala, Onam, and the festival of Raksha Bandhan. The students brightened the campus by wearing their traditional ethnic wear of Kerala, adding a colorful vibrancy to the school.
Onam is dedicated to King Mahabali, who sacrificed himself and his kingdom for the sake of his word. To commemorate the day, the school held a special assembly and lit a lamp. There were also various colorful performances, such as songs, poetries and dance sequences in Malayalam. The students also engaged in making a colorful flower Rangoli, a Pookalam.
The school also organized a Rakhi-making competition and other activities. The main goal of celebrating Raksha Bandhan was to make the children aware of the strong bond of love that exists between a brother and a sister, one of the strongest and noblest of all human emotions.
At the event, the director of the school, Jaison Joseph, greeted the teachers and students present, and conveyed the message of Onam and Raksha Bandhan. Smita Joseph, the Principal, also addressed the crowd and conveyed her greetings and wishes for the festivals.
