Is Joe Biden Too Old To Be President Or To Seek Re-election?

YES

Joe Biden is the oldest President in the history of the United States. Clearly, he is declining by any measure of cognitive alertness — is there such a thing? Can it be tested? Should Joe Biden be tested?

He is showing his age because the old boy is — well — old.

 1. He is currently the oldest President ever at 80.

 2. Joe will be 82 on Election Day 2024.

 3. If re-elected, Joe would be 86 when he completed a second term.

But, Big Red Car, age is “just a number,” right?

Yes, dear reader, age is “just a number,” — well, sort of like how IQ or your weight is just a number — but it is a damn important number, amigo, as it is a benchmark against which other things are also measured like the aforementioned cognitive alertness.

Joe does not seem a young, spry 80 — he seems like a guy who falls asleep at public gatherings, a guy who gets confused as to where he is, a guy who frequently garbles and forgets his words — in other words, an “old” 80.

Joe Biden belongs on the beach in Florida waiting for God to call him home. Sorry. You know that’s true, don’t you?

Come on, Big Red Car, you’re just piling on!

Perhaps, but it is not without evidence that he is in serious cognitive decline. The man is in the serious great grandfather age range.

Others have noted his propensity to lose his train of thought (sometimes the entire train, the train station, the tracks, the ties, the ballast, the switches, and the locomotive) and to speak nonsense — “we’re building a train across the Pacific to India?”

Others point to  his feeble physical condition, his propensity for falls and his fragile balance.

Others point to his banker’s hours and more days on vacation than any other President.

Others point to his frequent cat naps during public events.

Joe Biden “rubbing his eyes” in Hawaii?

I think the issue of the impact of age on Joe Biden is fair and reasonable, but, most importantly, it is real and disqualifying for the job the man holds.

Look — Joe Biden was never a smart guy on his best day. He’s always been a poseur.

Nobody cares, Big Red Car

Now, wait just a minute, dear reader. No longer true if ever true.

Results of a recent CNN poll (conducted 25-31 August, sample size of 1,503, error margin 3.5% +/-) taken two days ago:

 1. 73% of those polled expressed “serious concern” that an 80-year-old Joe Biden’s age might affect his current level of physical and mental competence; and,

 2. 76% of those polled were “concerned” the old boy, if re-elected, would fail to serve out a second term — meaning you are really voting for Vice President, not President. Awkward.

How does this impact support for the oldest President?

Great question, dear reader, here’s the same CNN survey of support for Joe Biden.

 1. 77% of Dems/leaning Dem voters said the Democrat Party should nominate someone other than Biden.

 2. Same bunch of surveyed voters: 39% approve of Joe Biden. Ouch!

 3. Same bunch, 58% believe Biden policies have made the US economy worse

A month earlier, an AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs poll reported 63% of their surveyed Americans “disapproved of Biden’s handling of the economy.”

Bottom line it, Big Red Car

Joe Biden will not and should not be the nominee of the Democrat Party in 2024.

But, hey, what the Hell do I really know anyway? I’m just a 57-year-old Big Red Car and I can still run with the wind in my hair.

[Yom Mitch McConnel, Nancy Pelosi, Diane Feinstein — this applies to y’all also. Retire you fossils.]
