Industry Chamber head Vinod Gheravada arrested for making an offensive post about RSS on Facebook.
Mumbai police have arrested Vinod Gheravada, the president of the Upleta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for uploading a video on social media that criticizes the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Upleta is a taluka headquarter in Rajkot district in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat.

The complaint filed by Kaushal Parmar, a taluka-level office-bearer of the Sangh, stated that Gheravada had posted a message on Facebook in Hindi that read “Jo nidar the who jang mein gaye, jo kayar the who sangh mein gaye”. The post was deemed as “vulgar and damaging to the reputation of RSS founder Dr Keshav Hedgewar and hurting the sentiments of those who worship him and the saffron flag”.

In response, Gheravada has been charged with sections 295A and 505 of the Indian Penal Code and section 67 of the Information and Technology Act. The complaint also stated that the claims in the video clip were false and intended to cause “unrest, fear and confusion.”

Gheravada's arrest comes shortly after an incident in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, in which a group of angry Muslims gheraoed a police chowki over an objectionable Facebook post against Islam. The incident shows the increasingly tense relations between religious groups in India.
