Indore: The Election Commission of India has instructed the Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company to make extensive arrangements for electricity supply to the counting venues in the Malwa-Nimar region.
Manoj Sharma, City Superintending Engineer of the West Discom, has said that special arrangements have been made to ensure a reliable power supply and supervision of the counting venue at Nehru Stadium in Indore.
Executive Engineer DK Tiwari of the South City Division visited Nehru Stadium and made certain that the necessary engineers were deployed for the smooth running of the arrangements. Five 11 KV feeders will be used to provide electricity to Nehru Stadium, mainly from Cantonment Grid, Jaour Compound, Residency, Navlakha and Radio Colony.
Additionally, a 132 KV network will be linked to the electricity network of the Eastern Division of the city, so that in case of emergency, the power supply can be quickly restored from other feeders.
About 20 employees, including five engineers, will be stationed at Nehru Stadium from December 2 until the completion of the counting process. Similar arrangements are being made in Ujjain, Dewas, Agar, Shajapur, Dhar, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Burhanpur, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Jhabua and Alirajpur districts.
Residents near the Indore Bypass Road were startled when a leopard was spotted near the townships. The Wildlife Department has been alerted and necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of the public.
