Indore Collector gives ₹2.25L to create training facility for army and police applicants.
Collector Ilayaraja T has launched a scheme to provide free physical training to the young people of Indore who aspire to join the police and army. The scheme was made possible by the generous contribution of Rs. 2.25 lakh from the Red Cross. With the funds, an athletic track, long jump track, and short put track will be built in the Maharaja Shivajirao school ground at Chhimanbagh, providing free access to the facilities for the youths.

The initiative was sparked when Collector Ilayaraja T visited Gandhi Hall on Monday for a programme to support Covid orphans. He observed the young people undertaking their physical training and was made aware of their financial struggles. He then met with the president of Physical Training Society, OP Jaiswal, who informed the collector of the free training they offer to young people who want to join the police and army but are unable to pay the fees for a training centre. Jaiswal also mentioned that in the past ten years, more than 10,000 of the people trained by him have achieved their goal, with most of them hailing from rural areas.

The lack of an athletic track, long jump track, and short put track in the Chimanbagh ground was creating a lot of inconveniences for the training process. Listening to these problems, the collector arranged the funds from the Red Cross and the young people expressed their gratitude for his efforts. The scheme will provide much needed assistance to those who cannot afford to pay for physical training and will also benefit the entire community by helping more young people join the police and army.
