In India, last month, there was a significant increase in hiring in key sectors such as hospitality, oil and gas, and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). This was revealed in a report published on Tuesday, which pointed out that the hospitality and travel industry saw a 16 percent growth, driven by the booming travel and tourism sector. The 'Naukri JobSpeak Index' highlighted the rise in demand for roles like front office managers, housekeeping supervisors, and F&B service professionals in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
Pawan Goyal, the Chief Business Officer of Naukri.com, expressed optimism about the new financial year, stating that although the overall Index remained flat, the strong hiring growth in hospitality, oil and gas, and FMCG was a positive sign. The oil and gas industry saw a 15 percent increase in new job creation in April, with positions such as petroleum engineers, drilling engineers, and production operators being in high demand in cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Jaipur.
The FMCG sector also recorded a growth of 11 percent compared to the same period last year, driven by the rising demand in rural areas. The report also highlighted the impressive performance of non-metro cities, surpassing metros, and the continued demand for senior professionals. Meanwhile, the IT sector saw a modest 2 percent growth in April, with roles related to artificial intelligence and machine learning remaining in high demand and recording a 19 percent increase in hiring compared to the previous year.
