In 5 years, Pujari promises no one in the state will be without land.
The Hon'ble Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Suresh Pujari, shared some promising news for the people of Odisha during a media address in Bhubaneswar on Monday. He declared that within the next five years, the state will ensure that every citizen has access to land and housing. This bold move is a part of the state government's comprehensive housing plan, which aims to provide a roof over the heads of the poor and landless.

Pujari further elaborated on the details of this 'complete housing package' that will be implemented in the state. The government will not only provide land to those who do not have it, but also extend financial assistance through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for the construction of houses. Additionally, basic amenities such as electricity, water, and LPG connections will also be made available through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

The minister expressed concern over the plight of the poor who have been residing on government land in rural areas for years, yet have been unable to obtain land pattas. To address this issue, the government has decided to grant land pattas to those with an annual income of up to Rs. 1 lakh and residing on government land in rural areas. In urban areas, the process of identifying landless individuals living in slums is already underway, and they will soon receive possession certificates.

Pujari also highlighted the efforts being made by the Revenue and Disaster Management department to ensure that only deserving and eligible individuals receive possession certificates from the civic bodies. He mentioned that as per the norms, Scheduled Tribes living in forest areas will also be granted pattas for 'forest land'.

This ambitious plan by the Odisha government is a testament to their commitment towards uplifting the underprivileged and providing them with basic amenities and a sense of security through land and housing. With these measures in place, the state is on its way to becoming a place where no citizen is left without a roof over their head.
