IIM Sambalpur hosted a leadership event.
In line with the National Educational Policy, IIM Sambalpur recently organized the 'Nurturing Future Leadership Programme' as a part of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme. The main objective of this five-day residential programme was to equip faculty members from various universities with the necessary technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills to excel in leadership roles within higher education institutions. It aimed to provide a holistic understanding of effective leadership, identify challenges, and foster strategic thinking for effective management of organizations. Moreover, it also focused on enhancing cross-functional coordination, conflict resolution, and consensus-building abilities.

During the inaugural ceremony, Mahadeo Jaiswal, the director of IIM Sambalpur, highlighted the significance of strategy in business by citing the example of renowned business theorist Michael Porter. He stressed that successful companies in countries like China and Japan prioritize operational efficiency over strategic innovation. For Indian higher education, adopting a strategic approach is crucial in order to compete globally. Jaiswal also added that the key areas of focus for Indian universities should be improving quality, international rankings, research, innovation, and attracting global talent.

The programme kicked off with an introductory session on 'Strategic Leadership for Academic Governance and 21st Century Learning'. It witnessed active participation from esteemed institutions like IIT Jodhpur, Banaras Hindu University, Magadh University, Visvesvaraya Technical University, Revenshaw University, Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Rajendra University, Ramadevi Women's University, and Central Sanskrit University.

Overall, the 'Nurturing Future Leadership Programme' aimed to equip faculty members with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in leadership roles within the higher education sector. It also emphasized the importance of adopting a strategic approach for Indian universities to stay competitive in the global arena.
