I spend £30,000/year on lavish trips for my 1-year-old, but he isn't spoiled.
Jodie Weston, a 30-year-old influencer and DJ from London, is no stranger to the lavish lifestyle. Having appeared on various reality TV shows such as Rich Holiday Poor Holiday and Rich Kids Go Skint, she has learned to appreciate the little things in life. However, that doesn't mean she's giving up her opulent taste in travel anytime soon. In fact, she has already spent a whopping £30,000 this year on luxury holidays for her one-year-old son, Koa.

From St Lucia and Budapest to Legoland and Chessington World of Adventures, Jodie has been jet-setting with her son in tow. And the adventures don't stop there. She has also planned a five-star staycation in the Cotswolds and a trip to Italy, where they will be staying in an eight-bedroom mansion. The price tag for this alone? A jaw-dropping £10,000.

Despite the extravagant expenditures, Jodie doesn't believe her son is being spoiled. She sees it as a well-deserved opportunity for him to experience the high life. "He's too young to know what being spoilt is, we are just enjoying the high life," she shared with What's The Jam. And the expenses don't just stop at travel. Jodie also buys her son a new wardrobe for each trip, a mix of designer items and practical ones. "It's cost me about £2,000 this year, but I don't care," she said.

As a single parent and a DJ, Jodie often has to travel for work. But she doesn't let that stop her from living her best life. "I've always lived my life as a unicorn," she said. "I still have an identity, I'm the sole breadwinner, and I want to continue with my career." Jodie often faces criticism for taking work trips away from her son, but she believes it makes her a better parent. "When a woman has a child, society expects her to stay at home all the time and never take any time for herself," she explained. "But I think I'm a better parent for it, and I even get to squeeze in a pedicure or massage to make the most of my alone time."

Despite the judgment she receives, Jodie plans to continue "living it large" and incorporating education into their travels in the future. "When he's older, I'll take him on more farm trips around the UK to teach him some values and to appreciate everything he's got and is able to do," she shared. "The people who judge me aren't usually parents themselves yet, so they can't really have an opinion. More often than not, they're just jealous of me and my ability to not conform – but that's their problem, not mine."

Jodie also wants to spend as much time with Koa as possible before he starts nursery. She's not the only parent in the limelight who has been criticized for treating her child. In 2021, the stars of Netflix's Bling Empire, Christine and Dr Gabriel Chiu, faced backlash for spending $1 million on their baby's first birthday party. But for them, it was an opportunity to teach their son the importance of giving back and sharing with others.

Jodie's story shows that as parents, we all have different ways of raising our children. What matters most is that we do it with love and the best intentions.
