Sam Chen-Williams was back in Hollyoaks village to reunite with his family. He had been wrongfully accused of sending texts to Zoe Anderson, but it was actually Rayne Royce's doing. His family didn't believe him, despite his acknowledgement of his past mistakes. This left Sam devastated, and he left the village.
However, he returned this week after Rayne's murder. It turned out that Dave had been in contact with Sam, and they met at the folly to discuss their own situations. Sam wanted Dave to come clean to his family, and his advice came to light in Friday's episode.
Sam also revealed his own news. He was heading to Los Angeles to take a job as a personal trainer. He shared one final group hug with his loved ones, before he got into a taxi and left the village. Dave also admitted to his family that he hadn't been paying the mortgage and they were being evicted from their flat.
Sam's departure comes shortly after the exits of Maddy Smedley, Grace Black, Zara Morgan, and Damon Kinsella. Matthew McGivern's portrayal of the character has been valuable to Hollyoaks, and we are sad to see him go.
Hollyoaks is now available to stream weeknights at 7:30pm on Channel 4's streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV weeknights at 7pm on E4.
