High Court reprimands police for slow response to missing minor case.
Indore: The Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court did not hold back in criticizing the police officials of Dhar and Khargone districts on Monday for their inaction which resulted in the suspects of a missing minor case being able to escape.

The court had received a habeas corpus petition from Kesha Ram, who reported that his underage daughter was missing and believed to be held by four individuals, known as respondents 5 to 8. On November 12, the petitioner informed the court that his brother had located the girl, along with the suspects and their relatives, in Maheshwar of Barwaha district. The court, expecting prompt action from the police, deliberately did not disclose this information in their order dated November 12.

In other news from Indore, a man has been given a life sentence for committing murder over an illicit relationship.

During the hearing on Monday, the court was disappointed to learn that the Barwaha police had not been informed for almost seven hours after the order was issued at 11 a.m. SHO Savita Choudhary of Sadalpur police station informed the court that she was busy with court duties and had requested the SDOP, Badnawar, to take action. She also stated that she was only able to contact the Barwaha SHO between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The SDOP, Badnawar, confirmed that he had also spoken to the Barwaha SHO in the evening.

However, by then it was revealed that the suspects had been present the previous night but had left early the next morning, claiming to have a family emergency and plans to travel to Rajasthan. The bench, comprising of Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla and Justice Binod Kumar Dwivedi, noted that the delay in relaying information had given the suspects the opportunity to flee and expressed their dissatisfaction with the conduct of the police. They believed that this delay was the reason for the suspects being able to escape.
