GTA Online 2, Elden Ring DLC, and a Fallout TV show are all discussed in the Games Inbox.
What does GTA 6 mean for GTA Online? I'm sure that's a question on everyone's minds. After all, GTA 5 and GTA Online have been a staple of gaming for years now. The single-player component is like Call Of Duty now: it's talked about for a bit but then the focus turns to the multiplayer. That's why there hasn't been a new GTA in so long and why I wouldn't be surprised if GTA 6 doesn't come out until 2025. Rockstar is already making plenty of money from GTA Online, so why bother?

Will there be a GTA Online 2 that's separate or will GTA Online be the only mode and it'll just get bigger? I think it will be its own game. GTA 6 is almost certainly going to be next gen only, so compromises will have to be made to bring its map, or a version of it, to GTA Online on last gen consoles. We won't know the answer for sure for a while, but I'm sure we'll find out eventually.

Speaking of next gen consoles, the PS5 Tiny is an impressive feat. You almost couldn't tell it wasn't a professional Sony product. I'm not sure if it'll be able to keep up with the heat in the long run, but the guy who built it seems confident. It's a lot better than the actual PlayStation 5 design, which seems to get worse every time I look at it. I think we can do better.

Amazon is making a Fallout TV series which I completely missed. I'm not sure how well the story will translate, since the joy of those Bethesda games is exploring a world and creating your own character, not the narrative. I'd prefer it to add to the current map and take place after the end, and see what happens to the world now that the evil is defeated.

Finally, as a member of the Steam Deck owners club, I can testify that the OLED screen is beautiful! One game I'm revisiting is Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The controls are sublime and the tracks are varied and interesting. It's my top pick for kart racers outside of Mario Kart. Never got on with Crash Bandicoot's karting game, but that's held in high regard by many.
What does GTA 6 mean for GTA Online?
I'm sure the upcoming GTA 6 trailer is gonna be awesome, but it won't answer the most important questions I have about how GTA Online 2 will work. It's been such a long time since we got a new GTA game, and it looks like we might not see one until 2025. That's because Rockstar is already making a lot of money from GTA Online, so they don't really need a new game. But that means the question of whether there will be a GTA Online 2 remains.

Will it be a separate game or will GTA Online just get bigger? I doubt the latter, since GTA 6 will probably be next gen only, and making its map or some version of it compatible for last gen consoles would be difficult. So I think there'll definitely be a GTA Online 2, but it'll take a while before we have a definite answer.

Meanwhile, another topic of discussion is the upcoming Elden Ring reveal. With The Game Awards around the corner, it looks like this is the perfect time for it. I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm a bit worried it might be a prequel. That would probably mean a new map and a story that would take some serious wiki-reading to understand. I'd much rather have it add to the current map and take place after the story has ended. Plus, I'd like to see how the world changes after the evil is defeated. It would be nice to have a Soulslike game where you actually get to enjoy the aftermath for once.

The PS5 Tiny is pretty amazing too. It looks like it came straight from Sony, and the guy who made it seems pretty confident. It's a lot better than the actual PlayStation 5 design, which just seems to get uglier every time I look at it. I think the giant fans were an overreaction to the PlayStation 4 noise issue, which could have been fixed without making it look like a mini-fridge.

So Amazon are making a Fallout TV series. I missed the news somehow, and I'm also wondering why. For me, the joy of any of those Bethesda games is the freedom to explore the world and create a character, not the story. I doubt a TV series can recreate that experience, so I'm a bit worried it might have missed the point. But now that Starfield is done, can we please have a new Elder Scrolls game now?

Finally, I'm a recently-made member of the Steam Deck owners club. The OLED screen is beautiful, and I'm loving snatching up some of the Steam sales and building a library. My favorite game so far is Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which is really like OutRun 2: Kart Racer Edition. The controls are great and the transforming karts make it even more interesting. This got me wondering about other kart racers besides Mario Kart. I'd put Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed at the top of the list, but I never got into the Crash Bandicoot kart game.
