Green Book Global is celebrating Black Travel Review Month with the release of their tips and rankings of the best places and ways for Black people to travel. Founded in 2018, the platform was created by CEO and founder Lawrence Phillips, who was inspired by the historical “Negro Motorist Green Book” that helped guide Black people safely across the United States.
Phillips noted, “As I was traveling around the world, I noticed how difficult it was to determine what racism could be like or what my experience would be like in a destination as a black traveler. Knowing that other Black travelers have this same concern, I created Green Book Global.”
The forum’s website and social media accounts not only provide insight for Black travelers on their journeys, but also create a communal hub where they can detail their experiences abroad. It is Green Book Global’s mission to dismantle the gaps in Black international travel, and the discrimination faced, by promoting worldwide exploration through knowledgeable trips.
Their rankings of the best destinations for Black people were diverse and included cities such as Dakar, Senegal, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Panama City, Panama.
For Black Travel Review Month, Green Book Global is encouraging Black voyagers to post their authentic stories about international trips. This includes activities they recommend, overall safety, and Black-owned businesses available to patron.
In partnership with Expedia, Green Book Global is offering a great incentive for their reviewers. Those who post onto the site will be eligible for $2,000 in OneKeyCash for their next big vacation. Winners will be announced every Sunday on the platform’s Instagram Live.
Green Book Global’s mission is to be the go-to source for diverse wanderers as they make informed decisions about their travels. Through Black Travel Review Month, they are helping to promote inclusivity and sharing stories from all corners of the world.
