Graham Norton, the beloved talk show host, has announced that he will be hitting the road in 2025 with his long-running show. At 61 years old, Graham has been entertaining audiences for 26 years and has interviewed countless celebrities on his Friday night show, which has been running for 17 years.
As he embarks on a world tour with The Graham Norton Show, he promises to share some of the juicy stories he has collected over the years. "I do want guests to come on the show again," he jokes. "But you know, there's talk about some of the people who've maybe drunk a little more than they should have and the like."
In an interview with Everand's Woman's Day, Graham reveals that he may even dish on some deceased celebrities, admitting that he can be "cowardly" at times. "Yes, I'll dish on dead celebrities," he says with a mischievous grin.
But despite his potential for juicy gossip, Graham acknowledges that he has been fortunate to have some wonderful guests over the years, which has reduced the number of potential horror stories. "I'm in such a fortunate position because I'm never alone with them," he explains. "I always have a couch [of celebs]. So even if you have a boring guest, what's good is, while they're being boring, it's not just me and the audience thinking, 'Jesus, shut up.' Other people on the couch [are thinking they're boring] too."
He goes on to share his tactic for keeping the conversation flowing. "If they pause for breath, I'll throw a little question to one of the more interesting people," he says.
Graham also dispels the myth that he tries to get his guests drunk, admitting that the most they can have is two or three drinks. However, he does reveal a sneaky trick that some guests use to get a buzz before the show. "If you want to be drunk – and clearly some people do – you've got to arrive pre-liquored," he laughs.
One famous incident involving alcohol on the show occurred in 2014 when actors Matt Damon, Hugh Bonneville, and Bill Murray showed up to the set drunk after attending a movie premiere. But despite the potential for wild and unpredictable moments, Graham continues to be a beloved figure in the entertainment industry, with his show airing tonight at 10.40pm on BBC One.
