Govt. creates more than 67 crore health accounts under Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced on Friday that over 67 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts have been created, marking the third anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. This mission is aimed at revolutionizing the nation's digital healthcare system by enhancing accessibility, efficiency, and transparency. One of its key features, the ABHA service, provides citizens with unique digital health IDs to securely access and share their health records.

Thanks to the ABDM, more than 42 crore health records have been linked to ABHA, making it easier for patients to access their medical histories and improving the overall delivery of healthcare services. The Ministry also shared that the ABDM was launched on September 27, and has since made significant progress by involving both private and public players in the digital health ecosystem.

In fact, over 236 private entities, including labs, pharmacies, and digital solution companies, have joined hands with the ABDM ecosystem to achieve interoperability. The Ministry also highlighted the contributions of public sector institutions like AIIMS Delhi and AIIMS Bhopal, which have emerged as top performers in generating Scan and Share OPD registrations.

Currently, there are over 1.3 lakh ABDM-enabled facilities, with more than 17,000 private facilities on board. This mission works by creating a single source through registries like ABHA, Healthcare Professionals Registry, and Health Facility Registries. Patients can simply scan the QR code of the hospital and share their demographic details to register, eliminating the need for long queues at the registration counter and reducing the risk of incomplete or inaccurate data.

The Ministry further stated that the ABDM has recorded over 5 crore OPD tokens, significantly reducing waiting times from one hour to just half an hour, and saving 2.5 crore man-hours in the process. To encourage the adoption and implementation of digital health practices, the ABDM also offers incentives of up to 4 crores, which has gained significant traction among private and public players.

Overall, the Ministry is proud of the progress made by the ABDM in the last three years, and is determined to continue working towards its goal of transforming the nation's digital healthcare ecosystem.
