Joey Womack was recently celebrated at Atlanta City Hall for his incredible hard work and dedication to the Goodie Nation nonprofit for Black entrepreneurs. He was rewarded with a $100,000 check from Google for Startups and the first-ever Community Icon Award.
The founder and CEO of Goodie Nation was surprised and humbled to receive the large donation. He said, “Let’s just continue to make the world a better place for all, especially here in Atlanta.”
Karen Fiester, Director of Americas for Google for Startups, said Womack’s work inspired the creation of the award. She commented, “We really couldn’t run our founder’s funds without the support of Joey Womack and Goodie Nation. He works so hard, and we just want to acknowledge that and the difference that he’s made, not only for us at Google but also here in Atlanta and just for the ecosystem at large.”
Donald Boone, CEO, and co-founder of BoxedUp, said Womack changed his life. Boone said, “He made five connections that ultimately changed the trajectory of my life.”
In 2022, Womack partnered with Google for Startups Black Founders Fund to award $5 million of funding to Black startups. He told BLACK ENTERPRISE that Goodie Nation was committed to supporting diverse founders and, specifically, Black company founders and leaders, in order to close the relationship gap that often exists for minority and women entrepreneurs for gaining access to capital, mentorship, sales acceleration, and community. Additionally, Womack partnered with Lenovo to award 30 diverse-owned businesses $10,000 each.
Joey Womack is an incredible example of how hard work and dedication can pay off. He is an inspiration to many, and his contributions to the Atlanta community and beyond are invaluable.
