Stephen Webb, a Gogglebox favourite, has reportedly signed up to the huge reality competition Dancing on Ice. The reality TV icon and his partner Daniel Lustig-Webb recently announced, with a video, their departure from the show after a decade of entertaining their fans. Stephen thanked the viewers for their ‘love and support over the years’, and said that if they experience ‘withdrawal symptoms’, they could find the couple on Netflix.
It has been reported that Stephen will be heading to ITV for the star-studded competition. A source told The Sun that many Gogglebox stars face a dilemma at some point, as they develop their own profiles and receive offers to appear on other shows. This transition to celebrity is not something that the Gogglebox reviewers are meant to do, so it was no surprise that Stephen received offers, although no one expected Dancing On Ice.
Stephen joined Gogglebox in 2013, and was one of the original stars. After his co-star Christopher Steed left in 2017, Stephen’s mother Pat Webb took his place for series 10 to 12. Daniel has been on Gogglebox since 2019, when he joined Stephen on series 13.
Show creators Studio Lambert and Channel 4 said that Stephen and Daniel had decided that it was time to explore life beyond the sofa, as they had entertained the nation with their hilarious quips since the show first aired in 2013. They thanked Stephen and Daniel for being brilliant contributors to the show, and wished them well with their future projects.
Will we be seeing Stephen on Dancing On Ice soon? We’ll have to wait to find out! Either way, we can't wait to see what Stephen and Daniel have in store for us next!
