PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced on Wednesday that the Chavath e-Bazaar initiative, which has been receiving encouraging responses during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, will continue as the permanent portal, "Swayampurna e-Bazaar".
Sawant remarked that over 800 orders had been executed by women self-help groups and small entrepreneurs during the festival within a short period of time. The government has decided to expand the scope of the e-Bazaar, and will now include handicrafts and other merchandise to be transacted through the portal. Additionally, Sawant said that other delivery services will be brought on board to facilitate the process.
The initiative of the Chavat e-Bazaar was operated in partnership with Swiggy Mini. The Chief Minister's statement has come in contrast to the news of Goa's Sunday 'Chor Bazaar' making a comeback in Margao. The Chor Bazaar, which has been shut since the pandemic began, has reopened to the public recently.
