A service station worker was recently left in a state of shock and fear after being threatened by armed intruders during a terrifying smash and grab incident in the early hours of the morning. This unsettling event took place at the Underwood Caltex, a petrol station located in Logan, Queensland. To make matters even worse, this was not the only time the station was targeted that night.
Exclusive footage obtained by 9News captured the moment when the first group of thugs broke into the petrol station at 1:30am and made off with thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes. Just a few hours later, the same Caltex was targeted once again. This time, a female worker had just started her shift when the thieves used a crowbar to force their way in. The footage showed the terrified employee trying to escape and pleading with the intruders to leave her alone.
The armed intruders then proceeded to force the employee into the back room and demand that she open the safe. They took more cigarettes and cash before making their getaway in the woman's stolen car. By the time the police and paramedics arrived, the victim was visibly shaken and could barely walk.
Ankush Dhir, the owner of the business, shared that his employee was "really traumatised" by the break-in and will need some time to recover from the ordeal. He described the incident as "totally horrible and insane." Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the Caltex has fallen victim to such crimes. According to Dhir, his business has been targeted four times in less than a year, leaving them out of pocket for $30,000 in cash and about $60,000 in tobacco products.
The Queensland Police are still investigating these two robberies and it is unclear if they are connected. The safety and security of businesses and their employees should always be a top priority, and it is deeply concerning to see such brazen and repeated attacks taking place. Let us hope that the perpetrators are brought to justice soon and that measures are put in place to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
