The iconic soul singer, Frankie Beverly, has announced his retirement from the music industry. To commemorate this milestone, he will be embarking on a special "Farewell Tour" which will kick off at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. After 54 years of entertaining fans, producing nine gold albums, and delivering countless hits, Beverly has decided to bid adieu in a series of six intimate shows.

According to Penn Live, the first stop on the tour will be in Atlanta on Friday, March 22. From there, Beverly will make his way to Mobile County Fairgrounds in Mobile, Alabama on Friday, April 6. The tour will then continue with a performance at the Toyota Arena in Houston on Friday, April 13. The last three shows will take place at the United Center in Chicago, the KIA Forum in Los Angeles, and finally, in Beverly's hometown of Philadelphia at the Dell Music Center. To add to the excitement, the city of Philadelphia will also be honoring the singer with a street renaming ceremony.

Special guests, El DeBarge and Chaka Khan, will be joining Beverly on select tour stops. Speaking to Billboard last month, Beverly shared his thoughts on the upcoming tour, saying, "I want to share with my lifelong fans and associates that I'll be going out on the road one last time, then retire. Thank you so much for the support given to me for over 50 years as I pass on the lead vocalist torch to Tony Lindsay."

After his retirement, Beverly's band, Maze, will continue on with Lindsay, former lead singer of Santana, and will change its name to Maze Honoring Frankie Beverly. The journey of this legendary artist began in 1970 with his original band, Raw Soul. Under the mentorship of Marvin Gaye, the group started touring as the opening act for the music legend. It was Gaye who suggested that they change their name to Maze, and from there, the band went on to record for Capitol and later Warner Bros., releasing a string of hit albums and singles between 1977 and 1993.

"His music has contributed to the soundtrack of our lives by enriching our experiences with his soulful melodies," said Black Promoters Collective CEO Gary Guidry, speaking of Beverly. "We are honored to join forces with him on his farewell tour." Fans can purchase tickets for the "Farewell Tour" on the official website.

In addition to his farewell tour, Beverly will also be honored at the 55th Annual NAACP Awards alongside New Edition. It's safe to say that this music legend's legacy will continue to live on through his timeless songs and unforgettable performances.
