Fortnite is celebrating Star Wars Day in a big way! The popular game has added new content inspired by the Star Wars universe, including a new world, quests, and skins. And the best part? These updates can be found in all four game modes!
Last week, a leaked roadmap revealed the upcoming content for Fortnite throughout the rest of the year. While some were skeptical of its authenticity, it gained credibility when singer Billie Eilish confirmed her involvement in the Fortnite Festival, just as predicted. Among the leaked content was the addition of Star Wars to the Lego Fortnite world in May. And now, it has been officially confirmed that the sci-fi classic will be making its way not only to Lego Fortnite, but also to the Battle Royale, Festival, and Rocket Racing modes.
The free update will go live on Friday, May 3rd, just in time for Star Wars Day on May 4th. Players can expect to see a new world and storyline in Lego Fortnite, complete with Rebel and Empire ships crashing onto the island. The best part? The new world will remain in the game even after the update ends.
It will be up to players to rebuild and survive as part of the Rebel Alliance against the Empire. They will have access to iconic weapons such as lightsabers, thermal detonators, Wookie bowcasters, and DL-44 and E-11 blasters. In the Battle Royale mode, players will embark on a new quest to save Chewbacca from the Empire, and if they succeed, they will be rewarded with a bowcaster and the opportunity to have Chewbacca fight alongside them. But beware, as players will also face off against Darth Vader in a boss fight. Defeating him will grant players the ultimate prize: his lightsaber.
In the Festival mode, players can visit a new area inspired by the famous Mos Eisley cantina. By completing seven of the new Star Wars quests, players can earn the seven string Hallikset guitar as a reward. And in Rocket Racing, players will have the chance to earn an Anakin Podracer decal by completing four quests, and a Darth Maul decal by completing eight quests.
All of the new quests will go live at 2pm BST, and players can also purchase an event pass for 1,400 V-Bucks, which includes Lego Fortnite builds and a Chewbacca skin for the Battle Royale mode.
This isn't the first time Fortnite has collaborated with the Star Wars franchise, but it is the first time they have added content to all four game modes. In the past, these collaborations have taken place on May 4th, but with the addition of new modes, this is the first major franchise to receive an update across all four.
