Fort William Mountain Festival announces lineup for annual event, featuring exciting and diverse activities and speakers.
Attention all nature enthusiasts! Get ready for an exciting and jam-packed schedule at the 2025 Fort William Mountain Festival. This year's festival has something for everyone, from thrilling adventure activities to inspiring speakers, creative workshops, films, competitions, and awards.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our team of volunteers, this year's festival promises to be the most diverse and exciting one yet, building on the success of our inaugural festival in 2004. We are proud to welcome founder of Bikepacking Scotland, Markus Stitz, who will be sharing his expertise on bike trail routes. And for those interested in mountain running, adventurer Will Herman will be launching his new book, Northern Horizons, showcasing the best mountain routes in the UK.

But the excitement doesn't end there. Our Headline Events will take you on a deeper exploration of mountain culture, with engaging discussions, films, and legendary speakers. We are thrilled to have record-breaking mountaineer Anna Wells, The Martin Moran Foundation, bike adventurer Lee Craigie from The Adventure Syndicate, blind climber Jesse Dufton, a musical collaboration between The Storylands Sessions and Scottish Mountaineering Press, and the highly-anticipated BANFF mountain film festival world tour.

One of the highlights of the festival will be a talk by adventurer Rebecca Coles on her Project Alpine Spirit. In 2019, Rebecca and a team of women set out to climb all 82 of the 4,000m peaks in the Alps, a feat that has never been achieved by an all-female team. So far, Rebecca has conquered 72 of these summits, and she will share the journey and stories of the inspiring women who have joined her along the way.

Co-ordinator for the 2025 festival, Anna Danby, is thrilled to be a part of this community-minded event for the third time. "Each year, the festival grows and evolves, and it's a joy to see," she says. "The 2025 programme has something for every mountain lover, with events covering all aspects of mountain culture. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, there will be plenty of opportunities to explore the stunning landscapes of Lochaber and be inspired by talks and films."

Don't miss out on the 2025 Fort William Mountain Festival, running from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 February 2025. Check out the full programme on our website and join us for an unforgettable experience. And for more news and updates, don't forget to subscribe to Scottish Field. See you at the festival!
