Floodlight Installation Underway at Chikkattur Ground

Koodige, Nov 4: The installation of floodlights has commenced at the public ground in Chikkattur village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Koodumangalore Gram Panchayat.

The project is being undertaken by the 'Chikkattur Geleyara Balaga' (Chikkattur Friends' Group) with the support of donors, at a cost of Rs. 8 lakh.

Villagers performed a *puja* (ritual) to mark the commencement of the installation of six large poles around the ground. Hemalatha, the Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) of Koodumangalore Gram Panchayat, inaugurated the project.

The PDO assured that the Gram Panchayat would provide all necessary cooperation. Former Zilla Panchayat member V.P. Shashidhar, who attended as a guest, emphasized that such a ground is essential for keeping the youth away from bad habits and addictions, and for encouraging them to engage in physical activities.

C.C. Swami, a key member of the 'Geleyara Balaga' and former Vice-President of the Koodumangalore Gram Panchayat, delivered the introductory remarks. He noted that several development projects beneficial to the villagers are being carried out without relying on any government grants.
