Christians in Suntikoppa Celebrate Harvest Festival

Suntikoppa, Nov 3: The annual Harvest Festival was observed with great devotion and reverence at the Immanuel Church, part of the Church of South India (CSI) in Suntikoppa.

The church and its premises were decorated with sugarcane stalks, paddy crops, flowers, and various agricultural produce. Jaison Gowdar, the pastor of the Suntikoppa congregation, presided over the religious rituals, led prayers, and delivered a benediction.

Speaking on the occasion, Steven Sarvotham from the CSI Karunya Church in Krishnapura, Mangaluru, noted that the Harvest Festival holds a significant place among the annual observances of the church. He explained that, according to the Bible, it is a long-standing tradition and an act of faith for believers to offer the first fruits of their agricultural harvest to God. Through this, believers dedicate themselves—as an offering—back to God. He emphasized that this practice reflects a life led under the grace and blessings of Jesus Christ.

Following this, the agricultural produce offered by the devotees was auctioned. The day continued with a communal meal and various games and competitions, which lasted until the evening. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony.
