Last night, firefighters responded to an emergency call to Brisbane Golf Club after parts of the club were "fully involved" in a fire. Acting Superintendent Darren Welsh of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said it took 22 firefighters over three hours to contain the blaze.
The fire was kept isolated to the workshop and commercial shop, and Acting Superintendent Welsh said that the efforts of the firefighters were successful in keeping the fire from spreading. At the time of the fire, there were reportedly a number of batteries inside the workshop, however, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
The historic club house, which was separate from the fire, was thankfully not damaged. Acting Superintendent Welsh praised the crews for their hard work in containing the fire and stated that "The crews did a great job in containing the fire, it did not spread."
