Female teachers making TikTok videos during school hours to engage students in learning.
A shocking controversy has erupted in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district, where four female teachers from a government primary school have been accused of making dance reels during school hours and forcing students to ‘like and subscribe’ to their social media videos.

Parents of the students have expressed their outrage, saying that the teachers' self-promotion was taking priority over their duties. The Amroha district magistrate, Rajesh Kumar Tyagi, has responded to the situation by forming a three-member inquiry panel of women officers to investigate the matter. The block education officer has already submitted his preliminary findings to the education department and the committee has been asked to submit its report within 15 days.

One student has come forward to explain the situation, saying that "our teachers made reels of their dance performances. They then uploaded them online and we were asked to share and like them on social media. We are usually not allowed to use mobile phones by our parents at home, but when under pressure, we borrow phones to like our teachers’ videos." The Instagram page with the videos has since been deleted.

Aarti Gupta, the block education officer, has said that "we have received complaints that four teachers made Instagram reels and forced students to like them. We recorded statements of teachers, students and parents. Our probe is under way." One of the accused teachers has defended her actions, saying that "dancing is part of our extra-curricular activities. Unless we perform in front of these students, how will they learn? Our students have performed at different levels and brought laurels to the school. We are not aware of any video and do not have any social media accounts. Besides, we never force any student to do anything."

The school headmaster, Kamal Gupta, has denied any protest by the students. He also added that some students are busy harvesting paddy crops and that 213 of the 445 registered students were present on Friday. He assured that the administration is investigating the allegations against the four female teachers and that action will be taken if necessary.
